Patent Associate / Counsel

Biospark is seeking a patent associate / counsel to join its team! You ideally:

  • Have an advanced degree (preferably Ph.D.) in a biology or chemistry discipline
  • Have 7 years or more of patent prosecution experience in biotech / pharma
  • Strive for excellence and growth
  • Are attentive to and precise with details
  • Proactively manage your work and schedule

You have experience in a diverse range of patent strategy, drafting, prosecution, and due diligence matters and relevant training in a “Big Law” environment, but are looking to apply your experience and skills in a supportive, small firm environment with close client relationships. Biospark is expanding and you can influence and improve our processes, and for the right candidate this role can result in a management / leadership opportunity.

Patent Paralegal

Biospark is seeking a patent paralegal to join its team! You ideally:

  • Have 8 years or more of patent paralegal experience
  • Have strong foundational knowledge in US, PCT, and foreign filing rules and processes
  • Are familiar with Private PAIR and Patent Center and have experience in docketing systems
  • Love to organize and create and manage filing systems
  • Are attentive to and precise with details
  • Proactively manage your work and schedule

Responsibilities include project management, systems and process improvement and implementation (including of new technologies and processes), and support of firm-wide initiatives. Biospark is expanding and you can influence and improve our processes.

Executive Assistant

Biospark is seeking an A-player executive assistant to join its team! You ideally:

  • Are proactive, organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful in all that you do
  • Provide excellent client service and display a high degree of professionalism and discretion, including by anticipating needs and communicating positively and effectively
  • Have a natural curiosity in understanding the business and enjoy formulating solutions and driving initiatives and tasks to completion
  • Like wearing many hats to perform a diverse set of administrative and personal assistant tasks and have interest and the ability to process information quickly, learn new skills, and do what is necessary to fully resolve matters
  • Have strong proficiency in standard software applications (including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, and Zoom) and are willing to learn new software applications
  • Have strong familiarity with business terminology and procedures and enjoy staying up to date on the latest business practices
  • Have an associate’s degree (or equivalent) and 5 – 15 years of relevant and progressively more responsible administrative experience, including providing support at the management level
  • Prior experience at a law firm is a plus, including familiarity with law firm processes and legal software applications, but not necessary
  • Overall have a strong desire to shape your career as the firm expands and new needs and responsibilities arise – we look forward to discussing and supporting it!

While we anticipate the role will be full-time, we will consider a highly experienced and dedicated part-time candidate who is willing to commit at least 25 flexible working hours per week.

Biospark’s team is mostly virtual and we will entertain resumes from any location in the continental US and, for patent practitioners, Canada. We are willing to sponsor a TN1 visa for a qualified Canadian patent agent or patent attorney who has an interest in relocating to the US, although remote work from Canada is also an option. Except as noted above, Biospark will consider candidates for both part-time (a commitment of at least 25 hours a week) and full-time positions. We would anticipate travel for team meetings to occur twice a year.
